My dog was sick and passed away suddenly. What caused her death?

My Yorkshire terrier was sick and not eating for 2 days On the 2nd day my dogs left eye closed shut which worried me so I was taking her to the vet first thing the next morning but she sadly died during the night. What would be the possible cause of death?? Thank you. Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | 11 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

Hello. I am so sorry for your loss. You must be heartbroken. There are so many things that could have lead to Fifi's death, including infection, inflammation, organ failure ( kidneys, heart ), heartworm disease, & cancer. It does not sound like she was in any pain or discomfort, so it sounds like she passed quietly. Without a necropsy, an exact cause will never be known, just be glad she did not suffer.
