My dog has a sore on his belly. What could it be and should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Just noticed this sore (?) on Red’s underside. Should we be concerned? Please advise.

That is quite odd looking. Yes, you should be concerned. If it isn't bothering him (it doesn't seem itchy or painful ) and he doesn't have any symptoms of illness (he's not lethargic, no vomiting or diarrhea, no coughing or sneezing, normal activity and appetite etc) then it is not an emergency, but do take him in to your vet in the next few days if you can. It may be an infection of some kind, or it could be a skin tumor of some sort. (which may be a benign tumor). Once your vet examines Red in person, he or she will be able to advise you of the best steps moving forward, both in terms of diagnostic steps and treatment.
