How to stop my 6-month Lab's aggressive biting and food aggression?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 30 lbs

My dog is about 6 months 40 pound lab. He bites my mom wrist hard, not drawing blood, every single time he see her. He does to continuously until she leaves the room. He bites my brother ankles the same way and he bites my wrist and ankles. He also has food aggressition. I'm trying to train this behavior out of him by giving positive reinforcement. It's not working. My family thinks it's possible he might maul someone when he gets older and I should put him down. Can this behavior be corrected?

This is some pretty serious aggression. First I would have Rudy neutered. Some aggressive behaviors can be hormonally related. Then speak to his vet about a referral to a professional behavioral expert. I never recommend owners work with aggressive dogs on their own due to the safety risks. The expert will let you know if his behavior can be corrected or if he needs to be put down. Best of luck.
