Cat swallowed buprenorphine instead of cheek pouch. Is it okay?

I'm giving my cat liquid buprenorphine. I know it should go in the cheek pouch but I think I got more in his mouth that he swallowed than inside his cheek. Is there any problem with him swallowing it? Does it render it less effective and, if so, what should I do?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Littlebit. This can happen when trying to give the medication in the cheek pouch. It may not be as effective as if it was solely absorbed through the gums, but should not cause him any problems. I would just try to give the next dose more slowly so that it only gets in his cheek pouch. I hope this information helps!
