Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 7 years old | 85 lbs
My dog had a wart like tumor on his face near his eye it would bleed every once in a while so we took him to the vet and the vet preformed surgery and removed the tumor. He sent the tumor for analysis and it came back as melanoma. My question is when looking at the different cancers I see it more likely fits with Squamous cell carcinomas and not melanoma is it possible it was mis diagnosed?

Hello. The lab that analyzed Jake's sample is a very reputable one & one all veterinarians are familiar with. The Microscopic analysis very clearly states that the abnormal cells contained melanin making the diagnosis quite clear. This is definitely not squamous cell carcinoma. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
