My dog is limping, holds leg up when eating, no swelling. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Vizsla | Male | unneutered | 65 lbs

My dog jumped up onto picnic table then down...on way down he's hind right leg got caught in leash...he was limping after..2 days later got better but he must of reinjured it..still limping..he can put weight on it but when he eats he holds it up..no swelling at all..

Hello. More than likely this is a soft tissue injury, possibly even a ligament sprain or tear. Your veterinarian can sometimes determine where the injury is ( hip, knee or foot ) & may recommend a through examination under sedation to obtain diagnostic x-rays at the same time. Regardless, Tudos needs pain medication to manage his discomfort. Until you can have him seen, rest him as much as possible by confining him, only allowing enough leash walking for outdoor eliminations.
