My dog ate a small stone. Can it cause blockage? How long to watch?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Can a single piece of small/ very small stone/pebble cause intestinal blockage in an adult dog of 27/28 months, middle sized & normal weighted? If yes, how many days to watch out for?

Unfortunately it might happen, especially in the small intestine. Usually the signs (vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetence) are seen in the following 48hours after ingestion.
