Why is my senior dog with heart murmur coughing, breathless, fainting?

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 11 years and 8 months old

My dog is a 11 1/2 years old King Charles bitch she has a stage 4 heart mummer she has started coughing sneezing burping farting and more breathless than normal she also what seemed like she fainted after waking up from a deep sleep like her blood pressure dropped . She is eating happy to go out

Molly needs to be seen by the veterinarian quickly. It is possible she is progressing into heart failure. Medication can often help this condition be managed but it needs proper diagnosis. Without treatment, this may progress quickly and prove fatal. Have her examined today. Best of luck.

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Molly. I am so sorry for your loss. The second, more recent, radiologist report indicates that she was suspected to be in heart failure. The left side of her heart was not functioning well resulting in fluid accumulating in her lungs. This makes it more difficult to breathe and would explain that fluid that came out after she passed. This disease can progress quickly and is unpredictable. Some dogs can live many months while being managed in heart failure. Others do not compensate well and will struggle to breathe. Again, I am sorry for your loss.
