My 4-month-old puppy's tooth is discolored. Baby or adult tooth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Male | neutered | 4 months and 3 days old | 47 lbs

My dog is 4 months old and I think he is starting to teeth. His one tooth looks like this and I’m not sure if it’s his baby tooth or his adult tooth, should I be worried?

That is Finn’s baby tooth. The discoloration generally indicates an injury to the tooth but it could indicate an abscess. Finn will not lose this toother for another 4-8 weeks. I recommend to call your veterinarian since they are most familiar with Finn. They may recommend an exam or may tell you to monitor at home. Your doctor will make the call. I hope this helps.
