New puppy has runny nose, sniffling, and sneezing. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 1 day old

My puppy’s nose is runny and he’s constantly sniffling. I haven’t had him a week yet and the first day I had him, he would blow snot bubbles from his nose. He also sneezes a lot. Besides that, he doesn’t seem to be showing any other health issues. Could it be allergies or could it be something serious? His snot is just clear and not an abnormal color.

Allergies are not common in a puppy but they can occur. More common would be an infection. I recommend to have him examined by a veterinarian. New pets should generally have an exam soon after they are adopted to test for worms which could spread to humans and have an over all health assessment. I hope this helps.
