Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 14 years old | 12 lbs
My 14 year old Male cat is diagnosed hyperthyroid. We've been treating him with medication, and our vet raised the dose, but he's started shedding excessively again. He has an appointment to check his T4 levels in 2 weeks. What are our options?

If you are having trouble getting the thyroid under control, you may look into the prescription diet Science Diet Y/D. This diet works well for a lot of cats and eliminates the need for medication. You can also discuss permanent treatment such as radioactive iodine therapy. The hair loss could be due to other causes however. I recommend to call you veterinarian for next steps. Best of luck.
