My 2-week-old puppy twitches in sleep. Is it normal? Still hungry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 16 days old | 2.6 lbs

I'm taking care of a 2 week old pup. The mother stopped feeding. So far all seems to be well but the puppy jerks and twitches when sleeping. Is this normal? Also, when bottle feeding her, her tummy feels right after 1- 2 oz but she still acts hungry. Should I feed her more?

The movements while sleeping are likely normal. You can try feeding her a little more food or feeding her more frequently. Here is a helpful article about raising orphaned puppies: https://www.petcoach.co/article/orphaned-puppies-how-to-raise-them/ I hope this helps.
