My dog's nose is turning pink and spreading. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Akita | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 80 lbs

I noticed my dog nose is turning pink. I first thought it was him rubbing it against furniture etc but now it’s spreading under his nose. This has been going on for 3+ weeks. What do you recommend I do?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Bentley. This can be normal, as a dog's nose can turn pink as they age. But without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. I would have him checked out by a vet to be safe. Best of luck.
