Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 13 lbs
This morning I took Tiny outside and noticed a little bit of blood in his poop. Should I be concerned? I did smash it a little with a napkin to get the amount of blood on the napkin. I lightend the photos so you can see the blood more. He is acting himself and no other symptoms.

There are many different things that can cause some blood in the stool. Intestinal parasites are one possiblity, others include dietary sensitivity, bacterial infection, and inflammation in the intestinal tract. For a small amount of blood in a normal stool, if your dog is otherwsie normal, you can monitor his stools for several days. If the blood continues or increased in amount I would recommend bringing your dog into the vet for an exam along with a recent stool sample so they can test for intestinal parasites likes worms, coccidia and giardia.

Hello. A little blood, while not normal, is not always a significant concern. Charger may have irritated & broken a few capillaries in his rectum with the last BM. If his stools are normal, not runny, then just see if you notice anymore blood. If you do, start by just taking the sample into your vet to rule out intestinal parasites, or have him examined in case there are any issues with the distal colon, perirectal area, or perhaps even the anal glands. It is always concerning when you see some blood in your dog's poop, but it's good that Shorty is acting normally. I would keep an eye on him for now, and make sure he is up to date on his deworming treatments as intestinal worms can cause blood in the poop. Get a deworming treatment from your vet if he isn't up to date on them. If he continues to have blood in his poop, or develops other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and/or lethargy, take him into a vet right away. Good luck, I hope this helps!
