Why is my cat peeing dark, bloody urine on blankets but not in pain?

Question

My wife and I found Luna peeing on a blanket today, and we noticed the urine was a very dark color(maybe blood). We found her peeing on a couple other blankets as well. She does not seen to be in pain, but this still catches our attention. What can this be? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

Hi, and thanks for your question. These signs might be compatible with a urinary tract infection/inflammation. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
