My cat has yellow eye boogers. Can I use leftover antibiotics for it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 14 lbs

I brought in a stray 6(?) month old pregnant cat. I already have a 3 year old orange tabby I adopted from a shelter. he was vaccinated I assume? Today he has yellow eye boogers (the stray does not), but he came into contact with another orange tabby that had terrible yellow eye guck. I started giving him his leftover Clindamycin that he received a month ago for toxoplasmosis...hoping if he has an infection it will go away...I am worried sick in killing my baby by trying to help another.

Please keep him isolated to prevent hin spreading this onto the mother and kittens. Oral antibiotics are very poorly effective for surface eye infections and you should have him checked for appropriate treatment such as antibiotic eye drops
