Why is my senior Westie drinking excessive water and has bad breath?

My dog drinks a lot of water at a time and all day . Is that normal . Full up her bowl maybe 4 times a day . She is 15 and a westi e . She also has really smelly mouth. Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Female | spayed | 14 years and 7 months old

That sounds like a lot of water! The most common reasons for excessive water intake is diabetes, Cushing disease or kidney disease. All of these require treatment early on for the best prognosis. The smelly mouth could be related or it could be unrelated and be due to dental disease which is common in the breed and requires treatment. I recommend to play it safe and have Molly examined by the veterinarian today. They will need to run some test on her blood and urine. Best of luck.
