My horse backs up and lowers head when saddled. Is his back sore?

Hi I have a horse who when I’ve been racking him up like after he has his girth and saddle on he backs up a little bit and lowers his head like he’s in shock from me tacking him up. This is not normal for him. Please help. Pet's info: Farm Animal | Horse | Male | neutered | 15 years and 5 months old | 1200 lbs

Sounds like his back is sore. The saddle may not be fitting properly. I suggest you get your vet out to check his back. If it is sore, you may have to adjust your tack. Always rule out a medical issue before assuming it is a behavior issue.
