Why does my dog shake his leg and rub his head on his bed? Seizures?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Silky Terrier | Male | unneutered | 15 years old | 8 lbs

I wonder if my dog has been having seizures? He would start rubbing his head on whatever he's lying on and one of his hind legs would start shaking, it only seems like he does this when placing him on his bed or a towel. It sometimes stops on it's own, or I'll remove him from the bed or I make him stand up.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Poochie. If he is truly having a seizure, he should be unresponsive if you call his name or touch him. Most dogs will lose control of their urination and defecation. Some may drool or vomit during an episode as well. He should see his veterinarian to determine if this is the case or if something else is going on with him. It would be helpful to bring a video of a recent episode with you to your appointment. I hope this information helps!
