Why does my unneutered cat bite and purr while kneading in bed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

Hi so my cat recently has a weird behavior. while we are in bed he meows as if asking for attention and then proceeds to bit (either my clothes or blanket) and doesn't let got at all, but at the same time he's purring and knitting me. The only way to get him off is to open his mouth with my finger but then he gets upset and goes back for another grab and this can last minutes. This is not an emergency but im very curious of why he is doing this.

This is pretty normal cat behavior. They ask for attention and then get overstimulated. With an intact male cat it could also be hormonally related. I suggest you have him neutered and likely the behavior will stop.
