My aging dog has kidney failure symptoms. How long will he live?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 8 years and 10 months old | 75 lbs

Our 70 lb dog is almost 9 and showing signs of kidney failure. Being his age, the fact that he’s drinking tons more, not urinating much, and not wanting to eat, around how long do we have left with him?

These symptoms could be signs of kidney failure but this could be many other things as well, you need to take him to the vet urgently to have a blood test and urine analysis done in order to have this diagnosed, only after the diagnosis the vet will be able to give you the prognosis.
