My cat has a hard bump, scab, and blisters on her neck. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Norwegian Forest Cat | Female | spayed | 4 years and 3 months old | 14 lbs

I was petting my cat and noticed a hard bump on the back of her upper neck/lower head area. I looked closer and it looked like a scab with little blisters around it. She is an indoor cat who occasionally lays on the balcony. She doesn’t seem hurt or ill and it doesn’t seem to bother her to much when I was petting her and touched it. What could it possibly be?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. It looks like it could be from an injury if there is a scab on it. A scab means it's healing, so I would just keep an eye on it for now. If you see signs of infection, it gets bigger, it starts to bother her, or it doesn't appear to be healing, then have Fatina seen by a vet. I hope this helps!
