Why is my pet's leg swollen and causing him to limp? Is it gout?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

His leg is alittle swollen than the other and he is babying it all day. I want to know if he has gout. He had worms but treated him for them.

Thanks for reaching out about Zilla. Gout is a kidney problem and usually an older animal problem. Calcium deficiencies, trauma and joint infections are probably the most common. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess the limp and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. A warm water soak might provide some inflammation relief. Good luck.
