Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 5 months old | 45 lbs
I have a 3 year old mix breed whom started limping around December. I took him to my local vet and they did xrays and found nothing and said it's probably a joint/muscle issue and sent him home with rimadyl which helped while he was on it but he started limping again recently, mainly when he gets up or after a walk. Would cosequin/joint supplements help with this? Old vet said he needs more fish oil which made no sense since hes on Canidae 7 fish species raw coated diet. Any advice would help.

Joint supplements as well as additional fish oils can help. I would definitely recommend a repeat orthopedic exam and x-rays since it's been so long. It's very possible you'll see something this time that wasn't visible before. Make sure he's been checked for lyme disease as well. There are also people who do physical rehabilitation for dogs who might be able to help him use the leg better even if no cause can be found. Finally, if your local vet isn't finding, you could schedule a consultation with a orthopedic specialist. Sometimes they can see something us general vets don't. Wishing you and Milo the best of luck. He's such a handsome guy.

I would recommend a repeat examination. ACL injuries are really common but can be hard to diagnose early on. Sometimes repeat examination is the only way to find it. They might recommend an X-ray too. Other things like bone infection or immune arthritis secondary to Lyme disease may be part of the problem. I would encourage you to take him back to your veterinarian to reassess the problem. Good luck to you and Lucas!
