Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | 1 year and 7 months old

My shih tzu has poo stick round his bottom but he is very feisty about anyone going round his bottom end. How do I help him without getting bit.

The easiest way is to take him to a groomer and let them deal with it. They will have to put a muzzle on him so they don't get bitten but they are experienced at it and sometimes it is best to let them be the "bad guy" instead of you. If you want to try yourself, then you will need to get a muzzle or have a person that knows how to properly hold him so you don't get bitten and then try to work on that area yourself with some warm water and shampoo (like just bathing the hind end). If I were you, I'd let the groomer do it......way less stress for everyone involved!
