Why is my new dog hacking with a runny nose? Could it be kennel cough?

My dog is hacking and has mucus discharge from his nose. He’s acting fine but I’m not sure what’s wrong with him. We adopted him from the pound about 2 weeks ago. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 40 lbs

He is probably suffering from an upper respiratory infection. The most common disease causing cough is a viral/bacterial infection called Kennel cough, this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.
