Why does my dog keep getting a swollen lump between his toes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 8 years and 4 months old

Noticed today he has this very swollen lump between his toes-this has happened a few times before but never this badly and it’s always the same location. I’m trying to prevent him from licking it. I felt it and around it and I’m not feeling/seeing anything stuck in it or between the toe itself. Should I clean it or put anything on it and just watch to see if changes?

I would have Hades examined by the vet. From the picture and your history, I would bet there is something stuck under the skin, like a grass seed or awn. You probably wouldn't be able to feel it with your fingers. A vet will do a thorough exam and probably recommend sedating to open the area and flush out any foreign bodies.
