What causes red spots on my puppy's leg if he seems otherwise healthy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 7 months and 18 days old | 55 lbs

Hello. I started noticing a few spots on my puppy’s leg. No change in behavior, eating and drinking fine. Also going to the bathroom regularly. No puss. Just a little redness.

I would recommend that you have Cooper examined by a vet. Areas of hair loss like this can be caused by demodex mites. Other possible causes include bacterial or fungal infection or other parasites. The vet will likely do a skin scraping to look for the mites under a microscope. Then they can get Cooper started on an appropriate treatment plan.
