My dog ate cat litter pellets. What should I do if he's less active?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 11 months and 10 days old | 45 lbs

Bucky ate some of my cat litter pellets, I found them in his poop. I had noticed he had a change in behavior, less active. He is still popping and eating. Should I be concerned? It was tidy cat breeze pellets.

A little bit of cat litter should pass through OK, however if Bucky stops eating completely, starts vomiting or having diarrhea, has a painful abdomen, blood in stool or vomit, or just seems otherwise off or unwell, it is best to schedule a vet visit to check for obstructions or other issues caused by the ingestion.
