Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | 8 years and 10 months old | 178 lbs
I rescued my dog and all I knew about his past was he was used for backyard breeding& lived in a garage for 6 years. He has marks consistant with fighting but My main question is about his teeth, they are all worn down and he has chewed his way out of crates during foster but they are all evenly worn down. Can someone tell me if they were filed down intentionally or if this just looks like a classic case of chewing. They are getting decayed and I want to know if I may need to have some pulled.

Simba will likely need some of those teeth extracted. Have the teeth x-rayed every year to check for abscesses under the gun line. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell if these teeth have been filed or worn down naturally. Certainly pets who aggressively chew, chew on metal or chew on rocks are more likely to wear down their teeth like this. When he is sedated and the teeth can all be palpated, the veterinarian may get a better idea. The most important thing is to take care of any existing dental disease and stay on top of the situation for the rest of his life. Congratulations on your new pup.
