Why is my 10-week-old kitten's tummy bloated on infection meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 8 days old | 1.3 lbs

My 10 week old kitten has an intestinal infection and is on meds from local vet. She also has ringworm so there is fur missing here and there. Using topical treatment for that. My main concern is she won't be returning to dr until 6/14 and her little tummy seems a little bloated. Is that common?? I can't remember if it was like that when vet saw her 6/5.

Hello. As long Mocha is eating & drinking well, & seems to be acting fine, then a little abdominal enlargement can be pretty normal in a 10 week old kitten. The medications can definitely mess up her gut, so you might want to add a probiotic to her diet. You do not need anything fancy, just something like Cullturelle for people. I would try about 1/4 capsule in a little food twice a day. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
