What's this new lump on my dog's face? Is it a bite or swelling?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 6 years and 6 months old | 84 lbs

Hey does this look like anything you have ever seen before on a dog? I'll send you some pics and actually circle what I'm talking about. This wasn't on her face yesterday. Does this possibly look like maybe something has bitten her? She acts no different what so ever and I've noticed this since this morning. I gave her 2 benedryl. When I feel the spot on her it feels like a knot. I know it's hard to tell without being in person however I was just wondering if you ever seen anything like that.

I am sorry to hear about Gracie. This could be something like a reaction to an insect bite. We would also worry about things like an abscess or ingrown hair/whisker causing inflammation and sweling, and we can have things like tumors (some are benign and not a cause for immediate concern while others are more aggressive) that appear like this. If the lesion isn't resolving within a few days or is getting larger in size/changes in appearance then a visit to her vet is recommended.
