Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 9 months and 13 days old | 11 lbs
Our Russian Blue kitten is 9 months old. We rescued her at 4-5 months & she was 6 lbs. Free-fed her at first but soon realized that she is a chow hound so she only gets 1/4 c dry food 2 x day (per pkg directions). She weighs 11 lbs. Should we be concerned? Since she’s still < a yr old, is there a “diet” cat food for such young cats?

Yes, there is a low calorie food that is formulated for growth, it is made by Royal Canin and is called Kitten spay/neuter. This food will allow Tasha to continue growing but not have as many calories. You may also institute feeding her less amounts but more frequently like 1/8 of a cup four times a day. In the wild cats eat 9 to 16 times a day so their metabolism is geared to run constantly. Make sure to keep her active with lots of play. Best of luck.
