Weaning usually starts at about four weeks of age. The mama dog can take care of it or you can help by separating them from her for a few hours at a time. Provide a shallow pan with a good quality puppy food kibble, wet with water, and you can mix some canned food in with it to attract them and encourage them to eat. They will get messy and you may have to help them by wiping your finger through the food and into their mouth so they get a taste for it and then direct them to the dish. Vaccinations usually begin about six weeks of age and the puppy series of vaccinations are given every 3-4 weeks until they are four months (sixteen weeks) old and can get their last booster and rabies vaccination, if applicable. And yes, dogs can have many litters of puppies, they can get pregnant every time they go into season, though litters that often are very hard on the mother and results in pet overpopulation.
