My dog is anxious after a move. What can I give him to calm down?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 80 lbs

My dog (8 yr old boxer) is not adjusting well to a recent move. He has been very anxious, not eating, and nipping at people when they try to pet him. Is there anything we can give him to reduce his anxiety? I've seen tons of stuff online but not sure what is the best.

Hi there. In terms of natural products, you could try an Adaptil pheromone diffuser or collar, along with a calming supplement like Zylkene or Anxitane - both of these work well for some dogs, in my experience. These can be purchased over the counter or ordered online without a prescription. If the anxiety does not improve, I would suggest getting in touch with a veterinary behaviorist in your area who can evaluate Charlie in person and help you put together a plan to work on his anxiety issues, which may include prescription medication if needed.
