My cat might have eaten ibuprofen. Will symptoms show after 16 hours?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

I dropped a bottle of ibuprofen. I don’t think my cat got any I pushed him out right away. This happened at 5:20am and it’s now 9pm. So about 16 hours have passed and he hasn’t shown any symptoms. He’s about ten pounds and has been grazing on dry food ate his wet food dinner and is playing with me and the other cat. If he had gotten any, would he have been showing symptoms by now?

Yes, if he had eaten it he would be showing symptoms by now. Ibuprofen toxicity in cats very serious and symptoms show up within hours after ingestion. ( https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/ibuprofen-poisoning-in-cats )
