Hello... I was wondering if you could help me figure out what’s wrong with my Leopard Gecko’s eyes... He’s also having a lot of trouble shedding on his toes, this has caused him to damage one of them...

Thanks for reaching out about Firkle and including a photo. Vitamin A deficiencies are commonly involved with ocular changes. The deficiency can lead to changes in skin cells (cornea, toes, etc) that affect shedding and can lead to secondary infections. Besides improving the diet, the eyes should be cleaned out during a veterinary visit, and antibiotics prescribed. Warm water soaks can help with the toes to soften the skin, and gently remove. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Bowser and including a photo. Vitamin A deficiencies can lead to poor shedding, especially associated with the eyes. This can lead to secondary infections, pus production and the eyes being shut. The diet needs to be corrected in that the insects need to be gut loaded. Ophthalmic antibiotics and anti-inflammatories are recommended. A veterinary visit is needed for this. The veterinarian can review husbandry and diet, and recommend corrections. Good luck.
