My new kitten's spay stitches look raw. Is this normal healing?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 lbs

I just got my kitten from the shelter and checked her stitches. This morning and I'm worried that this isnt normal.. I've never had a female kitten. Everyone tells me it's fine they take time to heal. Does this look like I need to take her to a clinic!? She doesnt act hurt and nothing when I touch it. But I'm worried

It looks ok. I just suggest you apply a thin layer of Neosprin to it twice a day because it’s a bit raw. I wouldn’t be worried unless it gets very swollen or is open and oozing. Please feel free to ask more questions if you need to. Best wishes!

    Hello. The incision does look a little moist, but it is difficult to say if it is infected. Since you are going for a recheck tomorrow, I would just use a little warm water to gently dab off some of the serum & leave things alone until she is looked at tomorrow. If they are very active they may get swelling like this along the incision. I would get your vet to have a look to make sure everything is okay and try to restrict their activity in the meantime so they don't further inflame the incision. Don't let them groom the incision too much either.

Amber is 2 months old and got fixed 48 hours ago. this is her incision site and I am really worried. Does this look normal?
It looks quite crusty but the stitches seem holding the margins still in place (one facing the opposite). I would suggest to rest her as much as possible and to put a buster collar on to avoid any licking. If you notice discharge coming from the wound, any sign of pain/discomfort or lethargy or inappetence or you can actually see underlying tissue layers, it would be absolutely best to have her checked by your local veterinarian.

Hi there. My cat was recently spayed. She’s on the fifth day of recovery and I noticed the skin around the incision is a little dry and flaky. Is this normal?
Hello, I am glad your kitten is recovering smoothly from her procedure. It looks like the skin may be a little dry from the cleaning agents used to prep patients for surgery. However, this should resolve/improve within a few days. If at her 10-14 day post-operative, her skin is still not looking healed, your veterinarian may chose to perform additional diagnostics at the site. Alternatively, if your kitten is licking at the area, she may be causing some irritation to the skin there. Please make sure she is not licking the area by placing an e-collar on her if necessary. Monitor the are for any swelling, redness, discharge and contact your veterinarian if you note any as this could indicate a local infection or reaction to the suture material. my cat recently got spayed on april 26th and i was wondering if her scar now is normal because it appears to have a ton of spots as well as it’s red
All in all, I think that Tokyo's incision looks perfectly normal for being about 10 days post-op. I can see that she's likely been licking the center part a bit more than she should have been since the tissue is still slightly red. However, it's still healing nicely. Since this area is a bit red, I would try to put an e-collar (cone) or baby onesie on Tokyo for the next few days to prevent her from licking at it. The white areas that you're seeing look like normal fibrin-rich tissues, which are normal in the healing process and will fall off shortly. I hope that she continues to heal well!

Is my cat's spay incision open? Should I take her to the vet?
From the picture it may seem slightly open, but just superficially (skin). This will heal very quickly and it does not seem any vet's intervention is needed at this stage. Please keep in touch with us in the next few days to give us some follow up informations. More pictures would be required to evaluate better this wound.

That looks fine as a healing incision. Continue to keep an eye on it for swelling, reddening, oozing, make sure she doesn't lick it too much and keep her from running and jumping for another week or so to ensure complete healing. After that time she can go back to her normal activities.

My kittie is 6 days post spay. Does this incision look normal?
It does not appear wide open, is not red and is not bleeding or draining. It looks good for 6 days post op. Monitor for redness,swelling, discharge, bleeding or for dehiscence (opening). Monitor also for lethargy, loss of appetite or fever. These are all symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

At the moment the suture line looks fine, as long as it does not open she is ok to stay like this. do not let her out until it's been 10 days from the surgery, if it starts to open up take her right away to your vet and he will get it fixed.

Is my kittys spay incision healing normally? Had to get her an e-collar and a retouch of glue from her pulling a stitch, but I just wanna make sure! She is acting normal, and eating great!
The incision has a bit of glue on it and some debris but otherwise looks normal. Also another key to know if it is infected is if there moist discharge coming from the incision, which I don’t see here. Continue to monitor the incision daily and definitely keep the e-collar on.
