My male Rottweiler is attacking family. How to stop his aggression?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 45 lbs

I have 3 rotweillers. 2 females 1 the mother and the other the daughter. And a male who is the son. Mother 8 years old. The offspring 3 years. Both females spayed. The male has been trying to mate with the mother and his behaviour is changing. 2 weeks he has attacked my husband twice without any provocation, tried to attack my daughter and again attaked my husband today when he tried to go upstairs. The mother jumped on him and stopped him. We don't cage or chain them they live Inside with us

Him mounting his mother is dominance behavior. Him trying to attack and bite you guys is dominance behavior. This is very serious and it is not recommended you try to correct this by yourself - you can make it worse. I suggest you consult with a professional in-home dog trainer. Needs to be in-home so the trainer can view all the interactions between the dogs and people. This can end up being a huge liability issue for you if he really injures someone. I googled and saw there are trainers available in Sri Lanka. I just don't know how close they are to you. I suggest you research this and then call some of them. If one cannot help you maybe they can recommend someone who can. Please, don't try to fix this yourself. This is a very serious issue.
