Pets can itch for many reasons. Trifexis is generally a very good product so fleas are unlikely though you can certainly check him with a flea comb. Pets can develop dry skin or allergies which can all cause itching. I recommend to have Buster examined by his veterinarian to start figuring out the cause and to get medication to help stop the itching. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. I hope this helps.

That is a great start! I would consider trying a different flea medication if it doesn't clear up soon and consider treating your house with Flea Busters powder. At his age I would also consider a thyroid panel and/or prescription medications if it does not resolve with what you are currently doing. I hope this helps!

It can take some time for the fleas to completely die off. You might talk to your vet about a round of Apoquel or prednisone to help with the itching until the fleas are completely gone. Benadryl won't really help in this situation. You could also try an oatmeal pet shampoo.
