Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 2 days old | 0.165347 lbs

My Guinea pig gave birth on the 2nd of June to 1 baby, it weighed 80g about 2 hours after it was born, I weighed it today it now weights 75g. The baby has also not been able to walk properly, very shakey and wobbly. However, it doesnt seem to be in pain its make normal noises and drinking from its mum. Mum Guinea pig seems 100% fine, eating and drinking like normal. It is just the baby I am concerned about.

As long as the baby is nursing regularly I wouldn’t be too concerned at this point. It is normal for the babies to lose a small amount of weight the first week or so of life. If the baby isn’t nursing or the mom is ignoring the baby or if the mom seems reluctant to eat, then I would be concerned. I hope this helps.
