What to do for a stray cat with a swollen, oozing paw and no vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old

Hi, i feed a stray cat who has been limping for a couple of days and with a swollen paw that he won't use but i couldnt see an obvious wound (he wouldnt let me examine closely tho). Today it seems to be oozing. He's eating and drinking fine today. Does it look like a burst abscess? Taking him to a vet is unfortunately not an option.

Yes it does look like a ruptured abscess. This may or may not heal without antibiotics. If you can't take him to the vet then there is nothing you can do about it. I suggest you try to contact one of these organizations to see if they can take him in or give you better advice as to what services are available in your country.
