Why does my duck have eye discharge even after human eye drops?

I have a duck with a lot of sleep in his eye and is to the point where i think it is infected I was recommended to try human eye drops which worked for about a week and looked a lot cleaner however it is starting to return to its original state

Ducks can be very messy, so daily cleaning of the eye may help keep it clearer, however if at-home remedies haven't helped, having a vet take a look for any injury to the eye itself and any infection is best. They can recommend or prescribe additional treatments as needed depending on the cause.
