My cat died after surgery. What are possible causes of death?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I got my cat caster. He was all fine after the operation. A day after, he stoped eating n was breathing a bit heavily. I gave him 1ml of mox 125mg. It was 12:30 am. He was 10month old. He died within 1hour as my vet did nt pick up the call n when he did. It was too late to give him the medication.

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss of Caster. There are many different things that can cause death after a surgery, ranging from infection, unknown cardiac (heart) issues, aspiration pneumonia, adverse/allergic reaction to drugs used during anesthesia, and more. The only way to truly determine the cause of death would be a necropsy. I am very sorry for your sudden loss, I am sure you are heartbroken and frustrated.
