My rescue dog barks, avoids me, and only likes my wife. What to do?

my rescue dog keeps away from me and barks when I come into the same room only likes my wife. Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 4 years and 5 months old | 80 lbs

Start being the person that feeds, walks and interacts with the dog on a regular basis. Carry treats with you and reward him when he stops barking at you, comes to you or does something you've asked him to, such as sit or down. You need to be the person that all good things come from until he is more open to your presence. His past may have been traumatic in some way that he associates with you and you'll have to be patient and kind to win him over. He may still prefer your wife's company, but hopefully you'll be able to convince him you're not so bad.
