One of my rats developed a lump on his right cheek within 2 hours. I'm pretty sure it's an abscess but I've read online that it could be a Zgt and I'm freaking out

ZGTs typically manifest as swelling more close to the ear based. They also are usually showing other clinical signs of illness. Biopsy or needle aspirate of the affected area is going to be required to better assess the problem. If it is an abscess, the veterinarian should be readily able to make this determination based on the contents of the swelling. The vet will also likely want to get a good look inside your rat's mouth to determine if there is a dental component.
