My dog is restless with high ALT after eating ibuprofen. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 8 months old | 27.5 lbs

Gingers ALT level is 105 while the normal range is 19-67U/L Is this a very bad reading and how concerned should I be?He seems very restless after the ingestion of 2.5ml of Ibugesic plus syrup containing 100mg ibuprofen and 162.5mg paracetamol per 5ml. It's been 24 hours now and he has vomited clear liquid with a few remains of the kibbles he had before the ibuprofen was administered..The vet took a blood test and the ALT showed elevated levels

This is not a particularly high ALT, I usually don't get too concerned until the liver values are twice the high end of the range. This does not seem like a toxic dose of ibuprofen or paracetamol for a dog Ginger's size if only 2.5 ml of the liquid was ingested. If he still seems restless or you have more questions about his lab results you may want to check in with his veterinarian.
