Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 72 lbs

I am about to put my 14 year old Labrador on CBD - He currently takes Metacam and tramadol for his arthritis - can he take the cannabis oil alongside the Metacam and tramadol? Thanks

As of yet, we have very little research on CBD oil in veterinary patients, so we cannot make any recommendations one way or the other about this product - we do not know what an appropriate dose might be, and if there are any potential health concerns or drug interactions in dogs. So I cannot say if it is safe to give Canyon the CBD oil along with his pain medications. Because of that, I do not recommend it.

You can use CBD oil together with tramadol, i hope she is also taking some other pain killer such as Metacam, Previcox or Rymadil as Tramadol alone is usually not enough for arthritis. as she has taken Tramadol 13 hours ago she can have another dose of Tramadol now as well (tramadol works for 8-12 hours max). it would also be helpful to know what dosage of tramadol she is on, maybe she is not on the maximum dosage and the dosage could potentially be increased.
