How to keep your Yorkie safe and happy during long outdoor outings?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 5.95 lbs

Do yorkies have any specific needs in terms of outings? Do they enjoy being outdoors for hours such as for picnics or outdoor events? I always make sure to give mine plenty of water and not keep her in the sun too long. Any other advice? Thanks.

Bailey is very cute! Yorkies love being with their humans, so if you enjoy being outside, she will enjoy being with you. Make sure she is up to date on her flea and tick treatments, as well as heartworm, and you are right not to keep her in the sun for too long. Also make sure she has plenty of cool water when outside, and do not take her outside when it's really hot. If you can't hold the back of your hand on the sidewalk for five seconds, it's too hot for her to be outside. I hope this helps!
