How to check if my dog was sedated by the groomer without my consent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 55 lbs

I decided fo take my dog to get groomed. She is a large husky/malamute. I believed they sedated her without my consent and was wondering if our vet can run a test to find out if she has been or not. It has been 18 hrs since the “groom.”

I am so sorry to hear about your concern with Bellatrix. I do not believe there is any blood test that a normal veterinary clinic would be able to run in their clinic to test for sedatives. It is also possible that many sedatives that are used would have passed through the system already and would no longer be found. A veterinary college toxicology lab may be able to do testing but I suspect it would be quite expensive, especially if we do not have a specific drug we are testing for (there are many different drugs used to sedate dogs so without knowing which was used we would have to test for many different drugs).
